Introduction The 'Voyager' serie from 'AJAX concert percussion' is one of the most revolutionary series of timpani ever developed. The 'Voyager' is a great sounding, easily transportable timpani that has been the popular choice of musicians for many years. The Voyager is based on the 'AJAX Grand Symphonic', another proud member of the AJAX timpani family. The kettle The light weight deep-drawn kettle is manufactured from fiberglass. Also available are the deep cambered copper polished, the deep cambered copper handhammered, and the deep cambered antique coated kettle versions. Pedal, legs & castors The pedal is easy and noiseless to operate, and has a blocked pedal system. It guarantees fast, accurate and effortless tuning. A light pressure applied to the pedal tip, releases the pedal clutch, so that it can be put into any position. The 3 telescopic legs can be adjusted individually. A break holds the front wheel from both turning and rotating for easy transportation. In case of transport the legs can also be completely inserted into the instrument. With the legs fully inserted, the timpani can be easily transported in any car. Heads and frame The 'Voyager' frame is made of light aluminium. All AJAX timpani are standard fitted with 'Remo Renaissance' custom series timpani heads with insert rings. The tuning gauge The 'Voyager' tuning gauge is extremely accurate and fully adjustable. It is placed on the front of the timpani and is very pleasing to the eye. Fine tuners are also available, but not standard. For info on Voyagers with fine tuners, see the top of this page.
